Gothic Revival in Scotland
The small, beautiful McManus Art Gallery and Museum sits in the fascinating Scottish town of Dundee. As part of the largest refurbishment in the 138-year history of the McManus art gallery and museum, a Giacomini underfloor heating system has been installed throughout the galleries. A key requirement of the system was to achieve comfortable and “custom” heat distribution throughout the galleries, where valuable and irreplaceable works of art are on display, as well as for the general comfort of visitors.
To maintain the integrity of this Gothic Revival building, a ‘joisted’ underfloor heating system was chosen. It covers an area of 1463 sqm and comprises aluminum diffusion plates grooved to take 16 mm PB pipe for efficient heat distribution. Mixing manifolds to supply water for underfloor heating circuits at 50°C are controlled by Giacomini room thermostats. Staff, visitors and the works of art therefore derive the maximum possible benefit.
